It is as free flowing as cotton gauze. Synthetic air filters are commonly made of polyester fiber that has a high temperature rating. It can also be blended along with other fibers to make the air filters more effective. Cotton air filters are termed as the best in air filters as they have excellent filtration and have higher airflow. Very high performance air filters use oiled layers of cotton gauze. These cotton air filters need not to be changed each and every time rather they can be oiled again in order to reuse them. Most of these air filters can be easily replaced by just removing the snap clips, a clamp or several screws. But, an improperly fitted air filters can allow unfiltered air to enter the engine thereby causing engine damage.
